Late dinners and no water in arlington...

yeah well, bet you'd like to hear that story wouldn't you? Too bad, you'll just have to keep in suspense until the next time i see you. Whole host of goodies for ya.

Games, lots of 'em: For the enginerd in every single one of you teagames has blueprint a fun flash game that brings to mind the old Incredible Machine. Both games kick my butt, though I still like wasting time on 'em. There's also plops. Look I could describe it to you, but the description would take longer than picking up the game and playing. So go play already.

It's Filipino with an "F": Ever wonder why "Filipinos" live in the Philippines (and not "Philippinos"?) This article breaks it down for you. Thanks Angry Asian Man

Because you're old skool like that yo: So while listening to MMORadio (where gamers rock) the Zelda Rap came on. Naturally I had to find out who did this. Which brings me to Scrub Club Records. Ok, I'll admit it, I'm intrigued enough to see what the Mad Hatter comes out with next.

Natalie Portman goes off: If you'd asked me before tonight who would win between Natalie Portman and Eminem, I woulda bet on the blond dude. But after seeing this now I'm not so sure. This kinda makes me want to check out SNL again. BTW, get the link quickly. Not sure how long until this goes the way of Lazy Sunday.

DO NOT ADD MATT: So I get this in my MySpace inbox today. Apparently adding some user named Matt who looks like a wabbit (with long bunny ears and a furry cotton tail like this doc?) puts a virus on your machine. This sounds suspiciously like an Urban Legend but so far Snopes has yet to help me out. Will keep you posted on this

Q of the Moment, Sell your IPod and other things...

Q of the Moment:
So today's Question of the Moment deals with stupid people. We all know 'em and we all hate 'em...especially when they're being stupid at us. But what has been your most stupid moment?

Don't buy an IPod. At least not yet...:
Ok so here's what you do. You combine this with this and what do you have? Yet another reason to hold off on buying an IPod for now. If the rumors do come true, which I hope they do, you'll get a full screen interactive Video IPod . Now the only thing they need to do is protect those screens.

News from around the world...
I swear I could just sit and watch this thing all day long. For those of you who don't wanna click the link. It's a map of the world with headlines that pop up showing you latest news headlines from that region.

Mario Revamped...
I just found this one five minutes ago. Seems someone provided a good hack of a Mario game...specifically SMB3. The post is here by a guy who "found" it not "made" it. Don't know about you but I'm gonna play this as soon as I get home.

WTF
Look I don't know what to think about these girls. On one hand I can see where they're coming from and I get that they feel guilty, but on the other hand all I see is a bunch of americans giggling and pointing at something weird and Asian. I'll leave it up to you to decide..

Another Reason to turn off your TV
So this site showed me the joy that is Ask a Ninja and Rocketboom.

And that's it for this week... Back soon with more...

I'm not dead...yet...

Sorry for the long wait kids. But you know how it goes. Between errands, work, and waking up in a pinebox on the wrong side of the Mexican border, life gets in the way. Anyway that's enough about me. Here's your latest batch of what's neato according to Dante...

The square root of Chuck Norris is pain. Do not try to square Chuck Norris, the result is death.: I realize this has been passed around. But if you missed it or your friends just hate Chuck Norris. here's a page fulla facts about your bearded American Hero. Apparently there's also a list of Vin Diesel facts but I suspect it's just a copy paste with some minor changes.

I'm a social networking whore: At least I used to think so having an account on myspace and friendster. But then I realized that a number of other people were doing it too. And now I feel safe blending into the crowd.

Bad pickup lines aren't just for men anymore: Seems the W4W in DC craigslist is having its share of haters but in a funny hating kind of way

Push the button!: Well go on then! Push It! Salt and/or Pepa would be proud (I'm not sure which)

MPAA, hypocrites(?): If you haven't heard about this by now, it seems the MPAA took the movie, This Film is Not Yet Rated that had been submitted for (ironically enough) an MPAA rating, and distributed copies of it to its employees. You can read all about it here.

Anyway, that's what's cool for now. Next post will probably have a Q of the Moment so keep your eyes peeled...

Some more reasons to procrastinate...

Well, this post is gonna make me late for work. But whatev. Here's my latest buncha time wastin links.

5.1 MP3?: Seems there's a problem w/MP3's that I didn't know about. The compression method leaves songs playing only in stereo and not in surround sound. These guys have fixed that. Now it's just a matter of getting other people to adopt this new standard.

MSN hates Chinese Bloggers: Or they're just caving in to pressure from China's policies? Read all about it.

Cuteness Identified: By scientists that is. What "cute" is and why some people never seem to get enough of that dang panda.

Top 10 Time Wasting Links: One of my favorite sites for this post. Although Not Pr0n should have been #1. Still have a love/hate relationship with that site, stuck as I am somewhere in the mid-20's. Although some of the game sites look interesting. Not sure how many of these are SFW (Safe For Work) so click at your own risk.

Longest Running Experiment(?): Possibly ever. Amazing the things some people will do with everyday objects.

Kill You Dead Elmo: Well I knew it wouldn't be too long after "Tickle-Me" that things would get progressively worse. But I never thought it would get this far. Next Christmas's must have for the little tykes? Gotta be Anal Rape Elmo.

Astronomy Nerds: Check this one out. Large file download of a crapload of galaxies. It's Hubble's "deepest view ever". In other words it makes a cool desktop background.

A New Start A Look Back

Well 2006 already, and it seems that everyone's doing their retrospective on the year that was 2005. Here's some tidbits from around the web:

2005 We-We Awards: If you don't know it already, Wes Keene is a funny funny man. He's also a fellow member of the Southwest Virginia Minority Club (or something more JLA-like, I forget our exact team name). He's got his 2005 We-We Awards up on his blog. So go check it out.

The Chronic-WHAT-cles of Narnia: Why is it I always feel so behind on the latest viral video? These guys did a pretty decent rap about going to see the Chronicles of Narnia that was featured on SNL. Check it out here.

Truth on a Postcard: Postsecret (ya know the people that do those postcards) is having its last week of the Georgetown Exhibit in DC. I plan on checkin it out, if you want details, here take 'em. Maybe I'll see you there?

Finger Lengths, Smarties, Luddite Queens?: What do all 3 have in common? They're featured on BBCs retrospective entitled 100 Things We Didn't Know This Time Last Year Fill your head with some useless trivia to impress friends and pick up chicks.

Numa Numa Redux: Yes yes, I know, you know, we all know the Numa Numa Dance. But did you know it inspired a host of copycats (most of them bad)??? Go back to newgrounds, the people to blame for Numa Numa to check out the impostors.

Christmas Light Displays: If you're like me, this holiday season you got an email pointing you to the craziest display of Christmas lights this side of the birth of Jesus. There's apparently been some debate on whether the video was real or not but Snopes (the truthmongers that they are) has weighed in on their opinion.

And that's my take on 2005....

Taking Over the World One Cool Program at a Time...

Die Mapquest Die!: I feel this is old news, but since a friend of mine just recently brought it up as a "cool find" I figured I'd post it here. You all should know by now not to go to MapQuest but instead to visit the much more user friendly Google Maps. Along with interactive maps which you can zoom, pan, etc. there's the satellite feature where you can overlay birds-eye views so you can get some sense of what the terrain looks like. Knew that already? Well, taking it one step farther, you can download and run Google Earth. At its basic you can think of it as Google Maps on steroids, but there are a ton of features you can add to it like weather overlays and it has a ton of info like crime statistics from 2000 (wish I'd known that before getting my old place). And the "gee whiz" feature is the 3d where you can zoom down to ground level and get a feel for hills, tall buildings, and make you feel like the ant you really are. First stop after you dl and install has to be the Grand Canyon tour. Motion sick people, bring a bag. After you check out the basic features, you should check out Google Earth Hacks and the Keyhole BBS (Keyhole is the company that made the software that google bought and is now offering for free) for stuff you can add on...and that's my rave on Google Earth

Anarchy News(?): Disinformation, the people that brought you Everything You Know is Wrong and other such delightful reads, have a daily news source at their homepage Go to it for alternative viewpoints on top stories, and read up on news you might not otherwise hear.

...and that's it for now. More tomorrow(?)

Updates

I promise I'll slow down in my posts. Some more stuff:

Nice Girl Rant: Found this on craigslist. I know i've seen the rant for nice guys out there somewhere before. Will post it if I find it.

Exact Audio Copy: This one I cannot get over. Read about it on Wired. Does a good job of ripping my CD's. Users claim that random samplings of listeners fail the double blind listening test (i.e. they can't figure out which is the mp3 and which is the original CD). Good enough for me.

Broadway Tix????: Apparently krrybear only wanted broadway tickets for the XMas present she never got. So far we have world peace, futuristic hover board, and broadway tickets... Hey, different folks.

My Pic: Oyeah. that pic is me telling you what you can do w/your precious "model minority" stereotype. Who woulda thunkit? Asians are angry! (read all about it on angryasianman link on the right)
